Eco-Friendly Initiative to Support Families in Need

In a commendable effort to assist families grappling with rising living costs, Brentford School for Girls has launched a remarkable initiative aimed at making school uniforms more accessible. The school is now collecting, cleaning, and reselling pre-owned school uniforms at discounted prices, creating a win-win situation for the community.

This initiative not only helps families facing financial challenges but also promotes the values of reusing and recycling clothing, fostering a kinder approach to our environment. With prices as low as £2 for shirts, £5 for skirts or trousers, £10 for jumpers or cardigans, and £15 for blazers, parents—especially those with multiple children—can find affordable clothing options that significantly undercut standard retail prices.

"This program is beneficial for our school and students too. By reusing uniforms, we can not only help parents save on purchasing new ones each year, but also direct additional funds to vital educational resources," said Melanie Baldy - BSFG Business Manager. "Additionally, uniformity in attire fosters inclusivity and equality among our students, regardless of their financial backgrounds."

Brentford School for Girls is not only committed to supporting its families but is also taking strides toward sustainability. By encouraging families to opt for second-hand uniforms, the school is addressing the fashion industry’s contribution to pollution and waste. This initiative teaches students the importance of empathy, kindness, and responsibility as they engage in collecting and cleaning uniforms for resale.

"This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about social responsibility and environmental stewardship," added Joanne Davies, BSFG Wellbeing Officer. When they get involved, they really start to see how important community support and being mindful about what we consume can be.'

Brentford School for Girls invites the community to not only take advantage of this program but also contribute. If you have any BSFG school uniforms you no longer need, the school would love to take them off your hands.

Together, let’s support our community and protect our planet by embracing this initiative. With Brentford School for Girls leading the way, we can work towards a more equitable and eco-friendly future.
