Reporting Absence
If your daughter is unable to attend school, we ask you to telephone the school by 8.30am It is not acceptable for the student telephone the school to explain her absence. If we do not hear from you, our Attendance Coordinator will contact home on the first day of absence. Notes for absence must be handed to the form tutor on returning to school. We do not authorise holidays in term time, unless there are exceptional circumstances. A holiday application form has to be completed for the Head Teacher's decision.
Special Leave
To fall in line with the government guidelines the school will not authorise holiday absences during term time.
Students who take holidays will be at risk of a fixed penalty notice being issued by the London Borough of Hounslow
Students who take extended leave are at risk of being removed from the school roll and will have to reapply through the London Borough of Hounslow.
Please note that there is no guarantee if your child is removed from our school roll that they will be reallocated a place at Brentford School for Girls.
This falls in line with the new legislation and the fact that our Persistent Absences will be raised from 85% to 90% for the Academic Year 2019/2020.
I Have a Concern. Who Should I Contact?
The School will always direct a parent’s concern to the most appropriate member of staff. In the first instance, this is usually the form tutor or the class teacher. If you would like to arrange a meeting, it is always best to phone (0208 847 4281) or use our online Enquiry Form. to make an appointment. We endeavour to reply to phone calls and emails within 24 hours wherever possible.
Safeguarding or Child Protection Concerns
Any concern relating to safeguarding or child protection should be reported as soon as possible to Angela Stone, Child Protection Officer (or Devesha Singh in her absence). Please either call the school on 0208 847 4281 or use our online Enquiry Form. by leaving your contact details and, if appropriate, the nature of your concern and Angela will call you back ASAP.
Personal, Social, Health or Emotional Concerns
If the concern is a personal, social, health or emotional issue, your first port of call is your daughter’s Form Tutor or Head of Year.
Academic or Subject-Specific Concerns
If the concern is about your daughter’s learning or progress in a particular subject, you should call the class teacher or the Head of Learning for that subject. Often, the class teacher is the best place to start. If the difficulty affects a number of subjects, you should contact the Head of Year, who has the broader overview.
